In the making for almost five years now, we started life in a cupboard in a Dinner Lady’s home in Winsford. Our Emma, as a mother to four, realised that when her growing children needed the next size school uniform, there was nowhere to readily exchange second-hand items to keep the financial and environmental costs low: the Winsford Uniform Exchange was born. By running the exchange, it became clear that pre-school needs were also creating financial pressures for families; so, three years later, when the opportunity to continue the Pass It On Baby Bank community project was presented, Emma couldn’t say no!
Together, the Green Uniform and Baby Bank (GUBB) helps local communities with the living costs associated with their young families, aiming to help them to save money whilst reducing waste and inequality to improve their futures. We do this largely by selling donated items from our Volunteer led Community Shop. Our non-profit model ensures that all money taken is put back into Mid-Cheshire communities by spending any profit on local events and initatives.
Please reach us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We have to pay rent to provide our community shop which enables us to receive, sort, and stock donations which you can shop from. The money raised from donations covers this cost.
All money raised goes back into Mid-Cheshire communities; firstly, to cover the rent and communication costs associated with our Winsford shop and our pop-ups around our wards so families can continue to donate and shop second-hand, before remaining funds being used on local projects and events. Our Community Hub and Events pages provide more information.
